Well, what makes Canapa brand strong and privileged among its competitors?
- Its history in the paper industry
The history of Canapa Paper Technologies dates back to the very early of 1970s which the industry was not outward-looking and had poor relations with the rest of the world, unlike present conditions today. Canapa’s story began with Fehmi Yılmaz’s efforts to start his own business with the experience he gained at SEKA Paper Factory, the only supplier in those years, along with his deep analysis on printing and packaging industry.
Initially entering the market through a local firm he owned in Kocaeli in 1979, he made a great impression on the industry in a very short time by establishing two paper factories in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Sakarya. In the meantime, he introduced plenty of new paper products to the market.
In the next period, Özer Yılmaz and Özgür Yılmaz, company partners today, joined to the company after completing their educations. They took an active role in making Canapa Paper Technologies widely known in the international area and in performing a series of researches and new investments in order to build a strong worldwide brand for the company.
Previously exporting products from United States of America and Europe to supply domestic market, the company then started to operate as an exclusive distributor in Turkey for many global brands in the paper industry. Such an extensive international network greatly helped the company to closely monitor growing global paper industry. And ultimately, the company developed a unique know-how in the Turkish paper industry.
- Experienced staff and R&D investments
Canapa Paper Technologies primarily focused on R&D and conducted product testing in almost 15 different factories. As a result, 150 tons of paper were wasted until the R&D efforts yielded the best results. Moreover, paper production is only one part of the whole R&D process. For specially coated transfer papers, the company built the complete lab, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Today, the company carries out its R&D operations with an experienced team of engineers. Investing heavily in dye sublimation production line, Canapa Paper Technologies puts a lot of time and effort into becoming one of the leading manufacturers in sublimation printing.
- Corporate partners and supports
TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), as the key reference for company, supports Canapa Paper Technologies in the field of ink manufacturing. Funding scientific and research projects and thereby promoting local production and science culture in Turkey, TUBITAK is one of the main contributors to the company’s sublimation ink manufacturing.
Besides, MIMAKI, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wide-format inkjet printers and cutters, fully tested and officially approved the compatibility of Canapa coated papers with Mimaki printers. This also proves that high-tech Canapa products have reached to world standards.
- Ink saving with specially formulated paper production
Under normal circumstances, you have to use at least 8 gr ink to reach an average result on the fabric which obviously is not enough to get the finest quality. On the other hand, when you use Canapa’s specially coated papers for printing, you just need 3 gr/m2 ink to get the same result.
Canapa’s specially formulated transfer papers yield high quality result and saving on ink. Generally, when you print on uncoated transfer paper, more than 50 % of the ink will remain in the paper. However, thanks to Canapa’s specially formulated paper, you will get the opportunity to transfer more than 90% of the ink onto fabric.
In sublimation printing, transfer paper should allow the ink to dry on surface and to be absorbed into the fabric. However, if you use a common type of paper, the ink does not transferred to the fabric and ink loss is observed. Yet, Canapa’s special formula provides efficient results and high quality prints.
